Valentine Ukulele Night at Wild Joes Feb. 13

The Bozeman Ukulele Cabaret hosts its fourth annual Valentine ukulele open mic and play-along from 7 to 9 pm, Friday, Feb. 13 2015 at Wild Joe’s Coffeehouse in Bozeman.

Ukulele players are invited to come out and play along on familiar love songs and heart-ache tunes. Song sheets with ukulele chords are provided, so anyone who brings a ukulele can strum along. Open mic performers can serenade their sweetheart or wallow in heartbreak, as the case may be. Prizes for Saddest Song, Sweetest Song and Most Swellegant Valentine Attire will be decided by audience ballot. Every performer is guaranteed a warm reception and enthusiastic applause. The public is invited to cheer the performers, vote for favorite songs, or bring a ukulele and join the fun.

Open mic players: You can sign up for a performance slot in advance online, but you must confirm your slot in person at Wild Joe’s by 7pm on Feb. 13th, or your slot may be given to someone else. (A sign-up sheet for remaining available slots will be posted at the door starting at 6pm.) Please perform only one (1) song so more people have the opportunity to play. If we have extra time at the end of the night, we’ll ask for encore volunteers.

All ukulele players, regardless of experience level, are welcome to perform or play along. If you would like to perform but need some ideas for a song to play, here’s a link to some of our favorite ukulele song sites:

Ukulele New Year Party – SUNDAY JAN 4, 2015 at Colombo’s

Happy New Year! GET OUT YOUR UKE!
5pm SUNDAY JAN 4 at Colombo’s Meet in Colombo’s back room for pizza and a Ukulele New Year open mic/play-along. I’ll provide a couple of pizzas and some beverages to get us started.Think up a song!
YOU bring a uke and a song to perform or share* (or just come play along on songs we provide!).
We’ll have a small PA set up for at least one uke and mic — nothin’ real fancy.Easy going, low tech, new year fun!
Anything goes as long as it’s F-U-N! Rumor has it we may have some Grateful Dead songs on the list, maybe some disco-era surprises, at least one current pop hit, and anything else that you feel like adding to the mix! Here are the play-along chord sheets if you want a sneak-peek: New Year Songs

* If you have a chord sheet that you want to share for us all to play along on, it’s helpful if you bring 15 or so paper copies. (But I’ll also bring the whiteboard, so we can post chords on the fly.)

(There will be no first-time beginner lesson this time, but beginners are welcome to join us. Usually there are a variety of songs, some of them easy-ish.)
